VK 37B Pick Hammer - LaCruz ML 37B

The VK 37B is an 8.5 kg pick hammer, technically equivalent to the LaCruz ML 37B. It is the heavier duty version of the VK 33, delivering 1,650 harder blows per minute on 18 l/s of air through a larger 23 x 14 mm shank. Use it where the VK 33 is too light for the material but the same confined, horizontal and angular access is needed. A screw cap retainer and D type handle give a secure grip.

Can the VK 37B replace an ML 37B?

Yes. Vikay manufactures the VK 37B in India as the technical equivalent of the LaCruz ML 37B. It strikes 1,650 blows a minute at 8.5 kg on 18 l/s of air. It takes the same 23 x 14 mm shank, so picks, chisels and moil points already on site will fit.

What is the difference between the VK 33 and the VK 37B?

This page is the VK 37B, the heavier of the two at 8.5 kg. Both are pneumatic pick hammers for horizontal and angular drilling in confined spaces, and both correspond to LaCruz models: the VK 33 to the ML 33 and the VK 37B to the ML 37B. The VK 37B is the heavier of the two.

Will my compressor run the VK 37B?

The VK 37B needs 18 l/s (38 cfm), delivered continuously. At 1,650 blows a minute the draw is constant rather than intermittent, so the compressor has to hold the figure under load, not merely reach it.

Will my existing picks, chisels and moil points fit the VK 37B?

The VK 37B takes a 23 x 14 mm shank (0.90" x 0.55"), so any pick cut to that shank fits, whatever machine it came off. Order tools against the shank, not against the machine. The retainer is the screw cap type.
