Air Line Lubricators

Vikay air line lubricators feed oil into the air supply of pneumatic machines that have no built in lubrication, which is what keeps a rock drill, breaker or pick hammer from wearing out early. Three sizes are built in India: the VK 20 at 0.71 litres, the VK 30 at 1.3 litres and the VK 40 at 5 litres. The VK 20 is the Joy football style lubricator familiar in North and Latin American mines. Which air line lubricator size do I need?

This page covers all three sizes rather than one. Three are manufactured: the VK 20 at 0.71 litres, the VK 30 at 1.3 litres and the VK 40 at 5 litres. The VK 20 is the Joy football style lubricator used with hand held tools. The larger two hold more oil between refills and suit a machine that runs all shift.

Why does a pneumatic tool need an air line lubricator?

Machines without built in lubrication rely on oil carried to them in the air supply. An air line lubricator meters oil into that supply continuously, which is what stops the piston and cylinder wearing early and keeps blow energy where it should be.

Where is the lubricator fitted?

In the air line between the compressor and the tool, as close to the tool as is practical. The further away it sits, the more oil is lost on the walls of the hose before it reaches the machine.
