Clay Digger – VK FL22 ( 22 lb )
The VK FL 22 is a 10 kg clay digger, technically equivalent to the Chicago Pneumatic CP FL 22 trench digger. It runs at 1,320 blows per minute on 21 l/s of air through a 19 x 82 mm shank. The machined barrel puts the exhaust port at the top, which keeps dirty air from blocking the tool underground, and the slim body with screw on retainer works in confined trenches. It can be used vertically or horizontally.

Can the VK FL 22 replace a CP FL 22?
Yes. The VK FL 22 is Vikay's technical equivalent of the Chicago Pneumatic CP FL 22, made in India. A 40 mm piston on a 44 mm stroke gives 1,320 blows a minute at 10 kg on 21 l/s of air at 6.2 bar. It takes the same 19 x 82 mm shank, so clay spades, moil points and chisels already on site will fit.
Will Vikay parts fit my CP FL 22?
Yes. Vikay manufactures the VK FL 22, which is technically equivalent to the Chicago Pneumatic CP FL 22, and the replacement parts alongside it. The same parts serve both, so an existing machine in the field can be maintained on them. Which Vikay clay digger do I need?
This page is the VK FL 22 at 10 kg, the lightest in the range. Two sizes are manufactured, at 10 kg and 11 kg, each in a plain and a silenced version. Both take clay spades and moil points for trenching, laterite and frozen ground, so the choice comes down to how much weight the operator can work with all shift and whether the site has a noise limit. Check the shank against the spades already held before ordering.

Will my compressor run the VK FL 22?
The VK FL 22 needs 21 l/s at 6.2 bar (45 cfm at 90 psi), delivered continuously. The inlet is 19 mm, so run at least that hose bore: anything narrower throttles the machine before the compressor does. At 1,320 blows a minute the draw is constant rather than intermittent, so a compressor shared with a second machine has to be sized for both.
Will my existing clay spades, moil points and chisels fit the VK FL 22?
The VK FL 22 takes a 19 x 82 mm shank (¾" x 3 ½"), so any clay spade cut to that shank fits, whatever machine it came off. Check the shank on the tools already held before ordering.
