Joy Football Style Lubricator – VK 20
The VK 20 is a 0.71 litre air line lubricator, also known as a Joy football style lubricator or line oiler, and it is widely used in underground mining across North and Latin America. It weighs 3.5 kg empty and 5.5 kg full, measures 200 mm, and takes a 25 mm hose at up to 17.5 bar. Its rotating nozzle design is what distinguishes it: oil keeps reaching the tool whatever position the lubricator is hung in. A cast steel body and the 48 mm safety fill cap suit it to rough handling underground.

The shape comes from the rotating nozzle inside: oil keeps feeding into the air line whatever position the lubricator is hung in, which matters underground where nothing hangs straight.
Why does a pneumatic tool need an air line lubricator?
A rock drill, breaker or pick hammer with no built in lubrication depends on oil carried to it in the air stream. Without it the piston and cylinder wear quickly and the tool loses blow energy long before it should. The lubricator meters oil into the supply so the tool is lubricated continuously while it runs.
