VD80S x 177 DTH Hammer FAQs
Will the VD80S x 177 fit my drill string?
The VD80S x 177 uses a 4 1/2" API coupler thread, so it fits any string cut to that thread. Check the thread on the string already in use before ordering, because that is what decides it rather than the hammer size.
What hole will the VD80S x 177 drill?
The VD80S x 177 is 177 mm across, 1,200 mm long and 148 kg. It is an 8 inch hammer, so it is matched to an 8 inch hole and fitted with a bit of that size.
Which size of DTH hammer do I need?
This page is the VD80S x 177, an 8 inch hammer, 177 mm across and 148 kg. The size is the hole. Vikay manufactures 4 inch, 5 inch, 6 inch, 8 inch and 10 inch down the hammers, and the hammer is chosen to match the hole diameter being drilled, then fitted with a bit of that size. The larger hammers need proportionally more air, so the compressor on site is the practical limit on how big a hole can be drilled.
