VK 310 Mucking Loader (Cavo 310 Dumper)
The VK 310 is a 3,150 kg pneumatic mucking loader, equivalent to the Atlas Copco Cavo 310 dumping loader. It is used underground to load and haul broken rock and to fill mining chutes, and one operator handles loading, haulage and dumping without help. Four wheel drive on 4+1 rubber tyred wheels with stepless steering gives it a travelling speed of 1 to 1.4 m/sec. Bucket capacity is 0.13 m3 into a 1 m3 body, driven by two 10 hp bucket motors and two 8.5 hp traction motors on 5 to 7 kg/cm2 of air.

Will my compressor run the VK 310?
The VK 310 needs 5 to 7 kg/cm2, delivered continuously. The compressor has to hold the figure under load, not merely reach it.
Why use a compressed air loader underground instead of a diesel one?
Because it needs no fuel at the face and puts out no exhaust, so the heading does not have to be ventilated for it. Compressed air is already piped underground for the drills, and the same supply at 5 to 7 kg/cm2 runs this machine.
