The VK S250 Jackleg Rock Drill weighs 35.2 kg and delivers 2,200 blows per minute from a 79.4 mm piston with a 73.25 mm stroke, on 73 l/s of air at 6 bar. The long stroke is what gives it a high penetration rate and strong rotation torque even where air pressure is low, so it holds its drilling speed at the end of a long airline - the reason it remains a standard hand-held drill for narrow-vein stoping, drifting and tunnel development. It is the standard hand-held drill in the narrow-vein mines of Peru, Chile, Mexico, Bolivia, Colombia and Ecuador, and in underground metal mines across Indonesia, the Philippines and southern Africa. It drills wet at horizontal and inclined angles and takes a 22 x 108 mm hex shank. Order it on its own, or as a package with the VK PL 250 pusher leg, equivalent to the Boart Longyear A755A, and the VK 20 air line lubricator. Spares interchange with the Boart Longyear S250 and with the drill's other market names - Secan, Seco, RNP and RNB Seco S250.

It is the technical equivalent, built by Vikay Mining Equipments in India. The same drill is sold under several names - Boart Longyear S250, Secan S250, Seco S250, RNP S250 and RNB Seco S250.
