Simba Junior Mini VKS-Mini
The Simba Junior Mini, model VKS-Mini, is the compact ring drilling rig in the Vikay Simba Junior range, built in India. It covers a 2.4 metre drilling radius rather than the 3 metres of the Standard, which is what lets it work in smaller underground headings. It drills through a full 360 degree rotation at any angle on 400 cfm at 7 kg/cm2, for drilling, tunnelling, drifting and long hole work, and dismantles for moving between faces.

Which Simba Junior version do I need?
This page is the Mini, covering a 2.4 metre radius. Three are manufactured. The Standard drills a 3 metre ring radius and is the general purpose choice. The Mini covers 2.4 metres and fits smaller headings. The Lateral Movement version traverses sideways instead of pivoting, so it drills holes parallel to one another, which is what cut holes and box holes need. All three run on 400 cfm at 7 kg/cm2.

Will my compressor run the Simba Junior Mini?
The Simba Junior Mini needs 400 cfm, delivered continuously. Allow headroom for hose length and for worn couplings.
What hole size and depth does the Simba Junior Mini drill?
51 to 64 mm holes to a maximum drilling length of 25 metres, on R32 rods in 1.20 metre lengths through a VK-12 pneumatic drifter. The difference from the Standard is reach, not hole size: the Mini works to a 2.4 metre radius rather than 3 metres.
