Description
Pneumatic Slurry Pump KPD 170
Pneumatic Slurry Pump KPD 170 is built by Vikay Mining Equipments in India and is technically equivalent to the CP 0077 sludge pump. It is used for pumping seawater and certain corrosive chemicals. Spare parts for this machine are supplied to original specification. Enquire for price and lead time.
Pneumatic Slurry Pump KPD 170
The KPD 170 is a 25 kg pneumatic double diaphragm slurry pump built by Vikay Mining Equipments in India. It is the lighter of the two models, running on 70 to 80 cfm at 5 to 6 kg/cm2, and is the one to carry into shaft sinking, declines, ramps and tunnels where weight has to go down a ladderway. Head delivery is 40 to 70 metres. It is a direct alternative to the Chicago Pneumatic CP 0077 sludge pump.

KPD 170 Slurry Pump FAQs
Can the KPD 170 replace a CP 0077?
It does the same job. The KPD 170 is manufactured by Vikay in India and serves the same purpose as the Chicago Pneumatic CP 0077, but the two are not interchangeable: parts and fittings do not cross between them, so it replaces the pump rather than slotting into it.
Should I take the KPD 170 or the KPD 250?
This page is the KPD 170, the lighter of the two at 25 kg. The KPD 170 weighs 25 kg and runs on 70 to 80 cfm, which makes it the one to carry down a ladderway. The KPD 250 weighs 60 kg, runs on 90 to 100 cfm and moves more water. Both are double diaphragm pumps with a head delivery of 40 to 70 metres.

Will my compressor run the KPD 170?
The KPD 170 needs 70 to 80 cfm at 5 to 6 kg/cm2, delivered continuously. The compressor has to hold the figure under load, not merely reach it.
Why a diaphragm pump rather than a centrifugal one?
The KPD 170 is a double diaphragm pump, and that is the point of it. The water coming out of a shaft or a decline carries grit, sand and rock flour, and that is what wears an impeller away. A double diaphragm pump has no impeller in the flow path, will run dry without damage and will pass solids that would jam a centrifugal pump. It also stalls harmlessly against a closed discharge instead of overheating.
