Description
Slurry Pump VK-PSP Vikay
Slurry Pump VK-PSP is built by Vikay Mining Equipments in India and is technically equivalent to the CP 0077 sludge pump. It is used for pumping seawater and certain corrosive chemicals. Spare parts for this machine are supplied to original specification. Request a quotation.
Pneumatic Slurry Pump VK-PSP
The VK-PSP is the Vikay pneumatic double diaphragm slurry pump range for underground mines, built in India, supplied in two models. The KPD 170 weighs 25 kg and runs on 70 to 80 cfm; the KPD 250 weighs 60 kg and runs on 90 to 100 cfm. Both deliver a head of 40 to 70 metres and handle the solids laden water found in shaft sinking, drives, declines, ramps, tunnels and dams. Both are direct alternatives to the Chicago Pneumatic CP 0077 sludge pump.

VK-PSP Slurry Pump FAQs
Can the VK-PSP replace a CP 0077?
It does the same job. The VK-PSP is manufactured by Vikay in India and serves the same purpose as the Chicago Pneumatic CP 0077, but the two are not interchangeable: parts and fittings do not cross between them, so it replaces the pump rather than slotting into it.
Should I take the KPD 170 or the KPD 250?
This page covers the range rather than one model. The KPD 170 weighs 25 kg and runs on 70 to 80 cfm, which makes it the one to carry down a ladderway. The KPD 250 weighs 60 kg, runs on 90 to 100 cfm and moves more water. Both are double diaphragm pumps with a head delivery of 40 to 70 metres.
Why a diaphragm pump rather than a centrifugal one?
Both Vikay models are double diaphragm pumps rather than centrifugal ones. The water coming out of a shaft or a decline carries grit, sand and rock flour, and that is what wears an impeller away. A double diaphragm pump has no impeller in the flow path, will run dry without damage and will pass solids that would jam a centrifugal pump. It also stalls harmlessly against a closed discharge instead of overheating.
How high will the Vikay slurry pump lift?
A head of 40 to 70 metres on both models, which covers the usual shaft sinking, decline and ramp duty. Beyond that the pump is staged rather than pushed, with a second unit picking up from the first.
