VK 003 Backfill Tamper is built by Vikay Mining Equipments in India and is technically equivalent to the CP 0003 Tamper. It is used for compacting soil around foundations and other structures, as well as for compacting backfill in trenches. Spare parts for this machine are supplied to original specification. Backfill Tamper - VK 003
The VK 003 is a 12 kg backfill tamper, technically equivalent to the Chicago Pneumatic CP 0003 tamper, and also known as a pogo stick or powder puff. It delivers 800 blows per minute on 8.4 l/s of air over a 152 mm stroke, in a 1,320 mm body light enough to work all day. Use it to compact soil around foundations, backfill trenches and compact road and concrete work, and in foundries for ramming moulds. The heat treated cylinder and chrome plated piston carry the wear, and the butt is held by a clamp screw for quick replacement.

What is the difference between the VK 003 and the VK 004 backfill tamper?
This page is the VK 003, the lighter tamper at 12 kg. The VK 004 is the heavier of the two and is the one for compacting around foundations and for sustained backfill work. The VK 003 is lighter and suits smaller trenches and confined work.
Will my compressor run the VK 003?
The VK 003 needs 8.4 l/s (18 cfm), delivered continuously. The air connection is Rc 3/8. At 800 blows a minute the draw is constant rather than intermittent, so allow headroom for hose length and for worn couplings.
