Backfill Tamper - VK 004
The VK 004 is a 19 kg backfill tamper, technically equivalent to the Chicago Pneumatic CP 004RV, and also known as a pogo stick or powder puff. It is the heavy version of the VK 003, with a 57 mm bore delivering 780 blows per minute on 13 l/s of air, for compacting deeper lifts and stiffer material around foundations and in trenches. A unique valve design lets dirt pass without stopping the tool, which matters on backfill work in dusty ground.

This page is the VK 004, the heavier tamper at 19 kg. The VK 004 is the heavier of the two and is the one for compacting around foundations and for sustained backfill work. The VK 003 is lighter and suits smaller trenches and confined work.
Will my compressor run the VK 004?
The VK 004 needs 13 l/s (28 cfm), delivered continuously. The air connection is Rc 3/8". At 780 blows a minute the draw is constant rather than intermittent, so a compressor shared with a second machine has to be sized for both.
