The VK 33 is a 5.5 kg pick hammer, technically equivalent to the LaCruz ML 33. It is an ultra lightweight machine for horizontal and angular drilling in confined or hard to reach places, delivering 2,000 blows per minute on 18 l/s of air through a 21 x 12 mm shank. The light D type aluminium handle is what makes it usable over long shifts, which is why it is common in coal mines and in demolition work at awkward angles.

Can the VK 33 replace an ML 33?

Yes. The VK 33 is Vikay's technical equivalent of the LaCruz ML 33, made in India. It strikes 2,000 blows a minute at 5.5 kg on 18 l/s of air. It takes the same 21 x 12 mm shank, so picks, chisels and moil points already on site will fit.

What is the difference between the VK 33 and the VK 37B?

This page is the VK 33, the lighter of the two at 5.5 kg. Both are pneumatic pick hammers for horizontal and angular drilling in confined spaces, and both correspond to LaCruz models: the VK 33 to the ML 33 and the VK 37B to the ML 37B. The VK 37B is the heavier of the two.

Will my compressor run the VK 33?

The VK 33 needs 18 l/s (38 cfm), delivered continuously. At 2,000 blows a minute the draw is constant rather than intermittent, so a compressor shared with a second machine has to be sized for both.

Will my existing picks, chisels and moil points fit the VK 33?

The VK 33 takes a 21 x 12 mm shank (0.82" x 0.47"), so any pick cut to that shank fits, whatever machine it came off. Check the shank on the tools already held before ordering. The retainer is the screw cap type.
