Description
VK-65 Vikay Rock Drill
VK-65 Rock Drill is built by Vikay Mining Equipments in India and is technically equivalent to the Atlas Copco RH 658 Sinker Drill. It is used for bench drilling, secondary drilling, and drilling for smooth blasting. Spare parts for this machine are supplied to original specification. Request a quotation.
VK 65 Pneumatic Rock Drill
The VK 65 is a 25 kg pneumatic rock drill, technically equivalent to the Atlas Copco RH 658 sinker. It drills 27 to 40 mm holes with H22 integral or extension steel to a depth of six metres, at 2,000 blows per minute on 58 l/s of air from a 65 mm bore. Low air consumption against a high drilling rate for its weight is what keeps this the most widely used sinker in the range. Valves, piston and moving parts are shock resistant tool steel hardened to specification; back head, cylinder, front head and retainers are drop forged alloy steel.

VK 65 Rock Drill FAQs
Can the VK 65 replace an RH 658?
Yes, that is the duty it is made for: the VK 65 is technically equivalent to the Atlas Copco RH 658. A 65 mm piston on a 60 mm stroke gives 2,000 blows a minute at 25 kg on 58 l/s of air at 6 bar.
Will Vikay parts fit my RH 658?
Yes. Vikay manufactures the VK 65, which is technically equivalent to the Atlas Copco RH 658, and the replacement parts alongside it. The same parts serve both, so both can be supported out of one parts stock. Part numbers and the assemblies they belong to are set out on the RH 658 Atlas Copco Rock Drill Parts page.
Which Vikay rock drill do I need?
This page is the VK 65 at 25 kg, at the heavy end of the range. Four are manufactured and the hole decides between them. The VK 12D and VK 12T are the light sinkers at 9.8 and 11.1 kg, D handle for horizontal and plug hole work, T handle for vertical holes to about 3 metres. The VK 65 at 25 kg is the bench and secondary drilling machine, and the VK S215 is the pusherleg drill for blast holes in narrow vein stoping.
Will my compressor run the VK 65?
The VK 65 needs 58 l/s at 6 bar, delivered continuously. At 2,000 blows a minute the draw is constant rather than intermittent, so allow headroom for hose length and for worn couplings.
