The VK 05P is a 5.5 kg pick hammer, technically equivalent to the Atlas Copco TEX 05P chipping hammer. It is the lightest of the Vikay pick hammers, delivering 2,760 blows per minute on 9.5 l/s of air, which suits light chipping and scaling, renovation and structural alteration work, roughening surfaces, chasing and trimming. A two step trigger helps place the first critical cuts, and it takes hexagonal or round shanks.

Which Vikay pick hammer size do I need?

This page is the VK 05P, the lightest of the three at 5.5 kg. Three are manufactured, and the number is the size. The VK 05P is the lightest, for chipping and renovation work. The VK 09 PS is the middle size and the VK 12 PS the heaviest, for structural alteration and sustained concrete work. They correspond to the Atlas Copco TEX 05, TEX 09 and TEX 12.

Will my compressor run the VK 05P?

The VK 05P needs 9.5 l/s (20 cfm), delivered continuously. At 2,760 blows a minute the draw is constant rather than intermittent, so allow headroom for hose length and for worn couplings.

Will my existing picks, chisels and moil points fit the VK 05P?

The VK 05P takes a 19 x 50 mm shank (0.75" x 1.96"), so any pick cut to that shank fits, whatever machine it came off. If the shank does not match, the tools are the cheaper thing to change. The retainer is the cap type.
