VK 12PS Pick Hammer - TEX 12PS
The VK 12 PS is a 10.5 kg pick hammer, technically equivalent to the Atlas Copco TEX 12 PS, and the heaviest of the three. At 1,600 blows per minute on 21.3 l/s of air it is the one to specify when the VK 09 PS is not breaking material fast enough, in demolition and heavier renovation work. The 550 mm body takes hexagonal or round shanks and a muffler is fitted.

Can the VK 12 PS replace a TEX 12?
Yes. Vikay manufactures the VK 12 PS in India as the technical equivalent of the Atlas Copco TEX 12. It strikes 1,600 blows a minute at 10.5 kg on 21.3 l/s of air. It takes the same 22 x 82.5 mm shank, so picks, chisels and moil points already on site will fit.

Which Vikay pick hammer size do I need?
This page is the VK 12 PS, the heaviest of the three at 10.5 kg. Three are manufactured, and the number is the size. The VK 05P is the lightest, for chipping and renovation work. The VK 09 PS is the middle size and the VK 12 PS the heaviest, for structural alteration and sustained concrete work. They correspond to the Atlas Copco TEX 05, TEX 09 and TEX 12.
Will my compressor run the VK 12 PS?
The VK 12 PS needs 21.3 l/s (45 cfm), delivered continuously. At 1,600 blows a minute the draw is constant rather than intermittent, so the compressor has to hold the figure under load, not merely reach it.
Will my existing picks, chisels and moil points fit the VK 12 PS?
The VK 12 PS takes a 22 x 82.5 mm shank (0.87" x 3.25"), so any pick cut to that shank fits, whatever machine it came off. Measure the shank on your existing tools rather than going by the model number. The retainer is the cap type.
