Paving Breaker – VK 1210 ( 44 lb )

The VK 1210 is a 44 lb road breaker, technically equivalent to the Chicago Pneumatic CP 1210. Built for light to medium construction and plant maintenance, it runs at 1,400 blows per minute on 23 l/s of air, faster and lighter than the 117 series. A reversible piston doubles piston life before replacement and a swivel air inlet stops the hose fighting the operator, which matters on long pavement and service work.

Can the VK 1210 replace a CP 1210?

Yes. Vikay manufactures the VK 1210 in India as the technical equivalent of the Chicago Pneumatic CP 1210. A 48 mm piston on a 108 mm stroke gives 1,400 blows a minute at 20 kg on 23 l/s of air at 6 bar. It takes the same 25 x 108 mm shank, so moil points, chisels and asphalt cutters already on site will fit.

Will Vikay parts fit my CP 1210?

Yes. Vikay manufactures the VK 1210, which is technically equivalent to the Chicago Pneumatic CP 1210, and the replacement parts alongside it. Which Vikay paving breaker do I need?

This page is the VK 1210 at 20 kg, at the light end of the range. Vikay manufactures breakers from 13.5 kg to 42 kg and the weight is the job: 13.5 kg for light construction and plant maintenance, 20 to 30 kg for general breaking, asphalt and pavement, 36 kg and above for reinforced concrete, frozen ground and thick pavement. The lightest machine that will do the work is usually the right one, because a heavier breaker breaks faster but tires the operator sooner. Silenced versions are manufactured alongside most models where noise is regulated.

Will my compressor run the VK 1210?

The VK 1210 needs 23 l/s at 6 bar (48 cfm at 87 psi), delivered continuously. The inlet is 19 mm, so run at least that hose bore: anything narrower throttles the machine before the compressor does. At 1,400 blows a minute the draw is constant rather than intermittent, so the compressor has to hold the figure under load, not merely reach it.

Will my existing moil points, chisels and asphalt cutters fit the VK 1210?

The VK 1210 takes a 25 x 108 mm shank, with 28 x 160 mm available as an option, so any moil point cut to that shank fits, whatever machine it came off. If the shank does not match, the tools are the cheaper thing to change.
